Day Three of the Sugar Challenge
… and still going strong 😉
What I ate yesterday:
– 1 bowl of oats mixed with water, a banana, cinnamon, and peanut butter
–Â 1 bowl of spicy parsnip soup
– 1/2 glass of skim milk
– 2 slices homemade apple banana bread with a smear of peanut butter plus 1 slice with some almond butter
– Homemade rosemary crackers with cheddar cheese
– Garlicky quinoa with shrimp and chickpeas (look for the recipe on Thursday’s post)
– 1 apple
– Carrot and celery sticks
I got in a lot of exercise yesterday, but for some reason I wasn’t very hungry. I probably could have done without the apple or the carrots and celery at the end of the day and been fine. I find that very interesting because usually if I eat this amount I’d still want a snack by the time I come home from my evening class. The food that I ate today was very filling and satisfying; I wonder if the lack of added sugars has anything to do with my fullness?
How are you feeling after day 3 sagan?? Having any cravings for sweets at all?
I’m drooling over this apple banana bread recipe…thanks!
Awesome Sagan!!!
I was with you until the parsnip soup.
you really liked it??
Hm, I think I”d like the parsnip soup! The bread sounds awesome as well. Now I want to go make those muffins I promised I would make :-0) Found your blog through 101 Exercises, great posts! my friend gave up added sugar a while ago, totally (for the most part) and has seen some weight loss through it.
Apple-Banana bread??? Mmm…
You are doing so well! I’m with VeggieGirl…that bread sounds a-maz-ing. 🙂
Ooh I want to see that quinoa recipe!! 🙂 I can wait till Thursday I guess.. 🙂
Glad it’s going well so far, I’ve been trying to follow Charlotte’s lead with her Perfection experiment and it’s going really well for me. In fact, I only just realised that it’s day 8, ie. the week is over.. Hmm.. I still want to avoid the junk food for another few weeks, i’m not far from my genuine happy weight! 🙂
Rupal- am doing good with cravings! I think the fats from the cheese and nut butters are helping a lot with that.
Lance- thanks 🙂
MizFit- hm… well… I wouldn’t make it again, but I’ll eat it if I’m hungry and want something hot.
Kathy- thanks for reading! I like muffins. Can I have some? 😉
VeggieGirl & Holly- this banana bread is the BEST thing for cravings right now.
Shivers- that’s so good the experiment is going well for you! I think that extending those kinds of experiments slightly beyond what is planned is a great idea, too.
That’s interesting relating the decrease in sugar to hunger levels. I tend to not listen to my body so I haven’t noticed anything about that, but I’m going to try extra hard today and see. I definitely have felt amazing since I cut out most sugar over a month ago 🙂
mmmm…the breakfast sounds good. Sounds like a great plan!
Well, I was doing really well with going along with you, watching my sugar consumption, until the Rancher decided he wanted chocolate cake! I don’t plan on eating any of it, but I couldn’t resist licking the spoon. Sigh.
You have a wonderful willpower! good for you!
Oh wow, great job with the great eats!
Good job. You make it sound so effortless! I have managed two days so far 🙂
Maggie- the things we discover when we listen to our bodies is fantastic 🙂
Missicat- it was very tasty.
Bag Lady- but the batter IS the best part, after all 😉 So sweet of you to bake him a cake!
Nazarina & Sharon- thanks for your support!
Spring Girl- hurray! (And I have been working toward eating this kind of way for a looong time… eating natural foods is just the standard but I started reducing the processed foods by a huge amount over a year ago. So it’s not quite so difficult as it could be, thank goodness;)).
