Skin care for colder weather
As the weather gets colder and dryer, our skin can in turn get dried out and scaly – not very desirable! That’s why, before the dry cold temperatures really kick in, we should act preemptively and protect our skin so that it can stay fresh and happy all winter long.
How can we do this? First, invest in a good dry brush. Dry brushing every morning when you first wake up, before exercising or showering, can help exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. Brush in long strokes towards your heart, starting from the feet and working your way up. Circular motions are also good for areas of the body where we tend to have more fat deposits.
The second thing you can do daily is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Moisturizing right after showering can keep your skin fresh all day long, and then you can also moisturize in the evening right before bed. This is a good time to pay special attention to your feet and hands; particularly your cuticles.
Choose a moisturizer with natural ingredients – try to avoid mainstream moisturizers, as they often contain ingredients that can do more damage to your skin than good. You’ll see how much of a difference it makes as your skin takes on a glowing, dewy look with every day!
