Traveling tips: beauty products
Going traveling this summer? Don’t forget your beauty products!
…actually, I think it’s more a question of how do I fit all of the beauty products I NEED into my luggage rather than oops I forgot my beauty products; oh well.
Never fear! When you’re going on holiday, you can take your beauty essentials along with you without feeling as though you’re taking along your entire bathroom cupboard. Here’s what you need to take:
1) The bare-bone essentials.
What do you use every day for beauty products? Take that amount and reduce it by 25%. Those items that you’re left with are your essentials that you’ll actually need and use on your holidays.
Moisturizer, for example, is a pretty essential product to my personal beauty routine, but when I’m traveling or going on holiday, I’ll usually forgo the body lotion and just stick with a facial cream and maybe a hand cream.
2) Smaller versions of everything.
This is entirely dependent on how long you’ll be gone for, but as a general rule you can take smaller amounts of what you need. You don’t need giant versions of everything! Either choose travel-sized beauty products (of which there seems to be a growing number at the store), or purchase small bottles which seal well and pour your beauty products into those smaller containers. Be sure to label all of the bottles so you don’t mix them up.
3) No more than three “extras.”
We’ve reduced the essentials a little bit in the first two steps here. Now you have all of your basics in smaller containers, so you should have room for a couple more items!
Now is the time to be strategic about what you pack. What kind of trip is it? Are you going on holiday to a hot and humid climate? Are you going to be going out a lot to fancy events? What kinds of beauty products could help add a little sparkle to your step? Take these things into consideration as you choose your extras. They should be items which will be best-suited to the specific type of traveling you are doing.
Remember that if you’re really in a lurch, you can always pick up a couple new products while you’re on holiday. But I bet you’ll be able to get by with just the above!
